Concordia University’s Journalism Department has been around for a little over 40 years and is renowned as one of the best journalism programs in Canada. From the beginning, Concordia has emphasized the responsibility that the journalist and reporter have to their society. They are responsible not just for reporting the news, but for reporting it in a truthful and factual manner. The school has an undergraduate program that focuses on teaching you innovative ways of producing effective journalism in a fast-paced, media-driven world. It also provides two different one-year graduate programs: one in general Journalism, and another in Visual Journalism. The Visual Journalism program will teach you how to tell powerful stories using pictures and video. Both graduate programs emphasize the importance of analytical and factual thinking, along with first-hand experience in the field. Concordia also puts emphasis on the importance of studying and understanding the direction modern journalism is heading, and then sharing that research with its students. As a result, you will be better informed and able to adapt quickly to the ever-changing world of digital media.
